2. General Requirements for Applicants Minimum Age
Minimum Age
Legally: The minimum age to work in the UK is 16 (Education and Skills Act 2008).
Practically / cleaning sector: Due to the physical nature of cleaning work — entering clients’ homes, handling chemicals, travelling between locations, and operational responsibility — I Care and Clean recruits from age 18, following standard safety practices across the professional cleaning industry in Wales.
Maximum Age
Legally: There is no maximum age for employment in the UK (Equality Act 2010).
Company policy: I Care and Clean does not exclude candidates based on age. Instead, we apply functional capability criteria, ensuring all team members — regardless of age — can safely perform cleaning tasks, including:
adequate mobility
ability to perform repetitive tasks
safe handling of equipment
physical capacity compatible with the role
Other General Requirements
Legal Right to Work in the UK (mandatory Right to Work Check)
Availability to work in Cardiff, Barry, Newport, Penarth, Dinas Powys and Caerphilly

Previous experience in domestic or commercial cleaning
